Pere Gascón

He is currently the Director of the Laboratory of Molecular and Translational Oncology, and senior Consultant of the Department of Hematology-Oncology in the Clínic Hospital of Barcelona. He is certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He studied at the New York University Medical Center (New York), National Institutes of Health (NIH-Bethesda), and in the Washington University (St. Louis). From 1985 to 1999, he was Director of the Division of Hematology-Oncology at the Rutgers University-New Jersey Medical School, becoming tenured Professor. In 1995 he received the Laureate Award by the American College of Physicians. In 1998 he was chosen among The Best Doctors in America. After 24 years in the USA, Dr. Gascón returned to Barcelona to run the Service of Medical Oncology of the Clínic Hospital until 2015. Then he became senior Consultant of this Service and Director of the CELLEX chair of Oncology and Multidisciplinary Knowledge of the University of Barcelona.

MD, he is full professor at the University of the Basque Country. He has headed the Clinic Hematology Department until 2012. He has been involved in education, in clinical protocols and in developing treatments for hematological tumors. His team was pioneer in the Basque Country in the developing of the bone marrow transplant. He has 50 works published and 106 Communications for Conventions.
