Interview: Paul Bihr

I’m Paul Bihr, a photographer shaped by the sea. Born in Le Havre and working since 2012, I’ve always lived on the coast and draw my practice from the rhythms of wind, tide, and light. After years of practice and exhibitions in France and Eastern Europe, I’ve developed a precise, contemplative approach—carefully composed frames and disciplined control of light.

Now based in Saint-Jean-de-Luz on the French Basque coast, I focus on seascapes and coastal environments to explore how landscape carries emotion. My images aim to share the quiet, restorative atmosphere of the shoreline and invite viewers to pause and look closer. A single hue, a gathering storm, a moment of absolute calm—each photograph is built to hold a feeling and offer a way to it.
